Thruster Components
The Thruster Components are solely used in the construction of Ion Thrusters for space flight.
They are among the harder to make components in the game. Crafted from 
Iron Ingots, 
Gold Ingots, 
Cobalt Ingots, and 
Platinum Ingots, this component is relatively rare and expensive and worth salvaging. You can craft them only after reaching space and finding Platinum on asteroids.
Trivia
Thruster Components are not used in Atmospheric Thrusters on planets, nor in Hydrogen Thrusters when first leaving the planet. This was probably a design choice by Keen Software House to create a sense of progression for the player.
The non-functional Storage Shelf 3 also optionally requires Thruster components, but this is an exception, since it only stores the components.
Construction
Thruster Components are required to construct solely the following few blocks:
- Ion Thruster
- Large Ion Thruster
- Warfare Ion Thruster (DLC)
- Large Warfare Ion Thruster (DLC)
- Sci-Fi Ion Thruster (DLC)
- Sci-Fi Large Ion Thruster (DLC)
- Storage Shelf 3
