The Steel Plate is a very common component item used in the construction of many blocks. Extra steel plates add to the blocks hitpoints.
Light armor blocks are, for example, composed entirely of steel plates, making Steel Plates a primary component in constructing the framework of most ships, vehicles, and stations. Heavy Armor blocks require many more steel plates and Metal Grids and have more hitpoints.
