The Radio-comm Comp. is used in construction of communication devices. The materials needed are readily available in early game, but you need a Basic Assembler, a Survival Kit cannot assemble them. Radio-communication Components are, after Gravity Components and Medical Components, the third bulkiest components to carry in your inventory, on the other hand, they don't have very high mass.
