Game Mechanics

After you have created a new game and have looked at Controls and User Interface, it's time to experience the gameplay.

Game Mechanics are the ways how players interact with the game world, with other players, how objects within the world interact with other objects. Basically, the rules and metrics of the game and the physics simulation.

The most important game mechanics to read first:

  1. How to control blocks and items through the Terminal
  2. What the player character can do and how Life Support works
  3. How to wield tools and blocks using the Toolbar
  4. How to build in Creative Mode or Survival Mode
  5. How to explore asteroids, planets and Pre-Built Ships
  6. (Optional) How to join Multiplayer

Units and Metrics used

  • Distance: Meters (m), Kilometers (km) 1km = 1000m, Light-seconds (ls), Light-years (ly)
  • Speed: Meters per Second (m/s), Kilometers per Hour (km/h) 1m/s = 3.6km/h
  • Mass: Kilograms (kg)
  • Volume: Liters (L)
  • Power flow: Watts (W) and multipliers (kW, MW, GW...)
  • Power storage: Watt-hours (Wh) and multipliers (kWh, MWh, GWh...) Watts vs Watt-hours
  • Force: Newtons (N) and multipliers (kN, MN, GN...)
  • Torque: Newton-meters (Nm) and multipliers (kNm, MNm, GNm...)
