Silicon Ore is a common, naturally occurring ore found on planets, moons, and asteroids. The veins have a glistening greyish appearance with a metallic hue, like shiny graphite.

Usage

In its refined form, Silicon is used to make essential components such as Computers, Displays, Power Cells, Radio-communication Components, Bulletproof Glass, and Solar Cells. Silicon Wafers are also needed to make consumables such as parachute Canvas, bottles, Explosives, and Rockets, as well Tools such as Grinders and Hand Drills.

Yield

Silicon Ore can be processed in a Refinery to produce Silicon Wafers at a 70% ratio. Which is to say 10 kg of ore will produce 7 kg of wafers. Using a Refinery, 4368 kg of silicon wafers can be produced in an hour, without Yield or Speed modules, at "realistic" refinery speed.

1 kg of Silicon Wafers takes up 0.43 L of volume.
