The KeenSWH policy on modding and mod authors can be found here:

You can also find the KeenSWH EULA here.

The Space Engineers community benefits from a host of community team services and considerations. These services are offered to ensure a healthy and safe space for modders.

  • The KeenSWH EULA has subsections that preserve the rights of modders and modder content.
  • If your mod is a copy of someone else's (without permission), it gets deleted.
  • If you stole someone else's blueprint (without permission), it gets deleted.
  • If the mod contains any content that would violate the Community Code of Conduct, it gets deleted.
  • If the content contains any plugins, .dll, exe, or other material we have reason to hold suspect, it gets deleted.
  • If your content has a violation of the Steam or Mod.io User agreement, it gets deleted.

Using DLC content in your mods:
From ModSDK's OriginalContent\Models\Readme.txt

Greetings Engineer!

DLC content has been included in our MOD SDK in the hopes that your passion and imagination can create something incredible. We can’t wait to see where your Need To Create leads you!

With that said, this content was created specifically for paid DLC and must meet certain requirements before it can be included in any submission.

Modded content that contains DLC content in its original form or a derivative form should always be flagged and include the correct tags, requiring a DLC as a prerequisite.

In order to better illustrate our stance on this, we have provided examples below.

Content should be flagged ~

Example: Posting the “Console Block” as a standalone mod with no Holographic functionality.
Flag: This should be flagged to require DLC.
Why: This is considered the sharing of DLC cosmetics.

Content does not need to be flagged ~

Example: Creating a completely custom block with the “Console Block” Holographic functionality.
Flag: This does not require a DLC flag.
Why: We wish to stay true to our mission statement and promise to you, we will not lock functionality behind a pay-wall.

Modded content that contains DLC content in its original form or a derivative form should always be flagged and include the correct tags, requiring a DLC as a prerequisite.

Mods that include DLC assets must also include the correct tags in the .SBC file. For example, if you create a new cube block using assets from the Sparks of the Future DLC then it would need to include the correct tags.

<DLC>SparksOfTheFuture</DLC>

If you are still unsure if your content should require DLC, it is always safer to simply flag the item as “requires DLC” than to not. Please also feel free to reach out to Moderation Staff with any questions or concerns.

Content that is posted and incorrectly flagged, or does not include correct tags, will be removed without warning or notification.

Repeated offenses may result in a ban from the applicable service.

PS: you can have multiple <DLC> tags on the same definition if it has content from more than one DLC.
