The 
Small Cargo Container is a storage block in Space Engineers. It extends a grid's inventory capacity.
Usage
If attached to a conveyor system, the container is flagged to receive pushed items from, and send pulled items to, other blocks.[1] For usage details, see Inventory.
If the container is partially damaged, its contents will remain inside and can be accessed again after repairing the container.
If the container is destroyed, its contents either fall out or are also destroyed.
Inventory
With Realistic settings, the Small Cargo Container has an inventory with a capacity of 125L on small ships and 15,625L on large ships and stations.
Access the inventory by highlighting an inventory port and then press I key.
The inventory accepts all items, acting as general storage.
The large-grid Small Cargo has the same volume as the small-grid Large Cargo.
Construction
The large-grid container needs 
Metal Grids, so unless you loot these somewhere, building a large container on a station hinges on having found Cobalt and having a Basic Assembler.
You can build the Small Cargo Container on Large Grids/Stations where it is a 1x1x1 large-grid cube.
On Small Grids, it is a tiny 1x1x1 small-grid cube.
The Small Cargo Container variant for Large Ships/Stations sports a large conveyor port on every side, so placement is easy.
The version for Small Ships has only two small ports on opposing sides, so placement needs to be planned well.
