Prototech blocks are end-game blocks that were introduced in release 205.
The Prototech Refinery is similar to a Refinery with already built-in upgrade modules.
Usage
It can refine all ores, so for usage details, see Refinery.
The difference is that the Prototech Refinery refines ores faster than the standard refinery, and that a small grid variant exists.
- The large grid variant speed is 550% (more than a full set of four speed upgrades) and its yield rate is 200% (a full set of four yield upgrades). To achieve this, the Prototech Refinery uses twice as much power as the base refinery.
- The small grid Prototech Refinery base speed is 150% and its base yield rate is 125%.
- It has no mount points for Upgrade Modules.

Construction
The Prototech Refinery can be built on large grid and small grid.
The large Prototech Refinery is 2x2x4 blocks in size and the small one 5x5x10.
The large Prototech Refinery has four conveyor ports along a long edge; the small one has two medium ports: one on an end, and the other on a long face and surrounded by 4 small ports.
To place a Prototech block, you need 1 
Prototech Frame in your inventory. You will need 
Prototech Panels and other components to build it.
