Prototech blocks are end-game blocks that were introduced in release 1.205.

This power producing Prototech block was added in release 206. The Prototech Fusion Reactor is similar to a Icon Block Large Reactor.png Large Reactor or Icon Block Hydrogen Engine.png Hydrogen Engine in function, but has higher output.

Usage

Prototech Fusion Reactors burn hydrogen to produce power. The Prototech Fusion Reactor is 40 times[1] more efficient than the Hydrogen Engine when factoring the L of hydrogen per MW ratio.

Power

The Prototech Fusion Reactor works similarly to a Icon Block Hydrogen Engine.png Hydrogen Engine in the sense that, if the grid idles, the fusion reactor stops burning hydrogen fuel. If built on a grid with blocks that use power constantly, however, the Prototech Fusion Reactor burns hydrogen as fuel and produces power constantly.

The Prototech Fusion Reactor produces:

  • 1 MWh[3] per 9,000 liters of hydrogen


Examples

  • To fully charge a large grid Icon Block Battery.png Battery, the Prototech Fusion Reactor would take 33,750 liters of hydrogen (3 MWh with 20 % power loss!).
  • To fully charge a Icon Block Jump Drive.png Jump Drive, the Prototech Fusion Reactor would require or 27,000 liters of hydrogen.

Construction

Prototech Fusion Reactor can be built on large grid only. It has two conveyor ports for hydrogen.

To place a Prototech block, you need 1 Icon Item Prototech Frame.png Prototech Frame in your inventory. You will need Icon Item Prototech Panel.png Prototech Panels and other components to build it. Or you loot it from Global Encounters.
