Items are objects in Space Engineers that the player uses. They serve a secondary function in Creative mode, but are pivotal to Survival mode. You store items in inventories.

Tools

Handheld tools are used for mining and building and character weapons are used when fighting.

Equipment

Equipment encompasses consumable items that are used to recharge certain blocks, recharge the spacesuit, and ammunition to recharge weapons.

Components

Components are crafted from materials in an Assembler. They are used up when building in survival mode.

Prototech Components

Prototech Components are used only for building Prototech in survival mode.

Materials

Materials are ingots refined from raw ores.

Ores

Ores are obtained by mining (or in the case of scrap, grinding).
